The prodn. of shaped metal components, comprises pressing a thixotropic metal bar (20) by means of a piston (16) from a filler chamber (12) into the die space (30), which is evacuated at least up to the instant of entry of the metal into this space. Also claimed is the appts. for performing the above method.

Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung von Formteilen (32) aus Metall durch Einpressen eines thixotropen Metallbolzens (20) mit einem Kolben (16) aus einer Füllkammer (12) in einen Formhohlraum (30) wird der Formhohlraum (30) zumindest bis zum Zeitpunkt des Eintritts des Metalls in den Formhohlraum (30) zwangsentlüftet. Bei einer entsprechenden Thixoforming-Anlage steht der Formhohlraum (30) mit einem Vakuumbehälter (48) in Verbindung. Mit dem Verfahren können Formteile mit weiter verminderter Gasporosität hergestellt werden. <IMAGE>
