[origin: EP0733549A1] The tool tensions material in the form of a band, and fastens or cuts it after tensioning. It has tensioning (3,6) and operating (3,9) actuators, and a valve arrangement (17,19) for releasing the pressure supplied to the actuators when it reaches a predetermined value. The arrangement has a changeover valve (19) and a reducing valve (17) which is connected via a throttled (24) supply line (23) to the tensioning actuator, and which can be adjusted to the pressure corresponding to the required band tension. The changeover valve is connected to the operating actuator, and is influenced by the pressure applied to the tensioning actuator and by a spring (33), which both act to release the supply pressure, and by the pressure upstream of the throttle, which acts to reinstate it.
