Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0733729A1] The mechanism to transfer a fibre web (1) between a conveyor belt (2) and two calender rollers (3a, 3b) has a suction cylinder (4) with a fixed vacuum zone (A, B) which rotates in the direction of the conveyor belt (2) movement and against the rotation of the lower calender roller (3a). It lies on the web (1) path between the conveyor belt (2) and the two calender rollers (3a, 3b), at or near a tangent to the lower calender roller (3a). It gives an initial calender action, and the web (1) clings to the lower roller (3a) to be carried to the upper roller (3b). In addition, the suction cylinder (4) is at a level near the belt (2) for the web (1) to be held by suction against its surface (5a) as far as the pre-calender zone between the cylinder (4) and the lower roller (3a).
