Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0733802A1] The membrane pump (1) has a form membrane (2) of elastic material. It is reinforced in the lift direction (4) in its central zone (3). There is a flexible annular zone (5) round it, held to the pump casing on the outside by a locking ring (6). A connecting rod (11) contacts the central zone of the membrane and can move it from the top dead point to bottom dead point and back. On the underside (17) of the annular zone, there are radial ribs (18) to stabilise the membrane, and also circumferential stabilising ribs (19). This produces a membrane which is flexible in the annular zone but relatively rigid about a certain dia.
