[origin: EP0734094A1] The contact element is formed from a flat stamped plate part as a double blade clamp pair (3) with an insertion slot (3b) between its elastically flexible arms for contacting an electrical cable. A yoke spring pair has an insertion slot (5b) between its yoke spring arms for contacting a flat blade plug. Each yoke spring arm is made of two independently deflectable flat springs, each with a contact zone protruding inwards into the insertion slot. The contact zones (6) of two flat springs on yoke spring arms (5a) are formed either side of the longitudinal centre line of the electrical contact element (1).
