[origin: WO9516612A1] A regulating means for controlling the speed and tension of continuous label web (15) supplied to labelling apparatus, has an arm (5) adapted to grip the web (15) in use. The arm (5) is encouraged by a pneumatic cylinder in a direction converse to the tensional force in the web (15). The web (15) is supported on respective reel stands (1), the stands (1) including bearings (2) of the breaking means (8) for retarding the rotational speed of the reel (1) under the control of a rotary sensor (9).
