[origin: WO9516736A1] The present invention relates to a styrenic polymer composition having a polymeric component and a flame retardant component, wherein the polymeric component is substantially oxygen-free, and wherein the flame retardant component is substantially halogen-free and comprises from 2 to 10 percent by weight (based on the composition) of triphenylphosphate (TPP), and optionally, one or more of flame retardant additives such as red phosphorus (P), ammonium polyphosphate (APP), melaminephosphate (MP), melaminecyanurate (MC), melaminepyrophosphate (MPP), resorcinol bis(diphenylphosphate) (RDP), magnesium hydroxide (MG), and a thermoplastic rubber (TPR). The resulting compositions are capable of attaining a 94-UL "V-2" flammability rating and of passing the requirements of IEC-65 while still retaining acceptable physical properties.
