[origin: WO9517276A1] The mechanism for ejecting cutoff parts of the workpiece consists of a blade (11) which is inserted or pivoted into the cutting gap (TS) in the workpiece (7) against the machining direction of the cutting-off tool, preferably through a slot (13) in the workbench (9). After the blade (11) has been inserted or pivoted in, it is withdrawn horizontally from the machining space (AR) along the surface of the workbench (9), taking the section of the workpiece concerned with it. Thus the blade (11) performs in succession a substantially vertical or pivoting movement and then a horizontal movement to clear the workbench (9). The blade (11) itself may be provided on its side facing the workbench (9) with means for removing machining residues, e.g. a swarf brush. As the distance and direction especially of the blade's horizontal movement can be controlled, the sections can be sorted by allocating severed parts of the workpiece to different delivery positions in front of or behind the cutting-off tool, thus further rationalising the process.
