[origin: WO9517281A1] The impulse drive system (12) has a rotating body (13) connected to a drive spindle (14) in which there is an aperture (16) for a core component (17) concentric with the axis of rotation (15). The core component (17) is fitted to rotate with an output shaft (25). In addition, the rotating body (13) has a radial drilling (18) perpendicular to the axis of rotation (15) in which a piston (19) can move radially. The piston (19) has a through aperture (20) through which the core component (17) can be engaged. With its inner surface facing the core component (17), the piston forms a control surface (36) which co-operates with a control path (37) with control cams (38) formed on the core component (17). During relative rotation of the rotating body (13) and the core component (17), the piston (19) makes a radial stroke. A pressure medium in a pressure chamber (40) is thereby pressurised so that a rotary pulse is transmitted via the control surface (36) and the control path (37) to the output shaft (25).
