[origin: EP0737022A2] The noise compensation device has a microphone (5) detecting the background noise, coupled to a compensation circuit (6) providing a signal for an electroacoustic transducer (7) used for noise compensation. The microphone has a compensation element (9) extending across its sound wave entry aperture (8), for reducing the effect of sound reflection at the ear. Pref. the microphone and the electroacoustic transducer face in the same direction and lie along a common centre axis.
