Abstract (en)
[origin: US5662777A] A shoe press roll for a press device for a paper machine. The roll includes a stationary support. A press shoe supported on the support in a radially displaceable manner. A plurality of hydraulic elements in the support and arrayed along the length of the press shoe across the width of the web to urge the press shoe against the backing roll. A plurality of return springs connected between the support and the leading and trailing sides of the press shoe, the springs being located outside the hydraulic elements at the press shoe. The return springs are compression springs fastened by struts on the lateral sides of the press shoe which involves a simple mounting for enabling separable attachment of the tie rods of the spring and the lateral sides of the press shoe.
