Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0738524A2] The flame retardant is held inside a container (3) fitted with a detonator (6) activated by a release (23). A housing (12) open to the bottom holds the aerosol and directs the released spray in a controlled direction. Several units can be mounted in a cluster over sites to be protected. The released fire retardant is mixed with air to form the aerosol spray. A compressed spring (10) assists in expelling the material after the detonator has broken to retaining tie (7). The upper lip of the container has a seal which is pressed upwards into the open housing.
