[origin: EP0738566A2] The slicing device includes a sickle-knife (1), which has a non-uniform rise of the spiral cutting edge (2), less in the end zone (5). It also has a weight-balancing region (3), bringing it closer to a circular shape. The effect of this region is that the centre of gravity of the knife is in its geometrical centre (4). The lower-rise end cone may extend over the last quarter of the length of the cutting edge, which encompasses about 200 degrees to 250 degrees , preferably 215 degrees to 230 degrees . The weight-balancing region of the disc may be bounded by a circular cutout outline (6).
