[origin: EP0738785A1] The CO content of the atmosphere of an oven (2) supplied with a mixture of air, hydrocarbon and, if required, NH3 and used for carburisation or carbonitriding of metal workpieces is regulated by a process in which the CO level is determined and a CO forming material is introduced when a min.
