[origin: EP0739731A1] The device uses a foil (4) of e.g. Cr steel wrapped around a rubber-coated cylinder (3) between the platen (1) and pressure roller (2). The foil carries two bumps riveted (14) or adhesively bonded to opposite sides, enabling it to be stretched by a tensioning device (16). An underlay (15) e.g. 1.65 mm thick on a 0.3 mm foil makes up the overall thickness to the 1.95 mm of the standard rubber coating commonly used for the same purpose.
