[origin: EP0739803A2] The error correction system detects a counting error by comparing the axle count provided by a counting point with the count values provided by the adjacent counting points. The individual track sections are associated with respective net counters (A1,A2,A3) holding the obtained count values, with evaluation of the count values provided by each set of 3 successive counters, for detection and correction of counting errors.
