[origin: DE4401506C1] A press for pressing ceramic masses, in particular for producing roof tiles, has a machine frame (1), a monkey that moves up and down in the machine frame (1) and is provided on its bottom side with one or several top flasks, and a multi-faceted drum (5) with mounting surfaces (10) arranged on a horizontal shaft (140) under the monkey. A number of chases matching the number of top flasks is mounted on the mounting surfaces (10), which are successively moved under the monkey by rotating the drum (5) step-by-step and may be stopped in a position opposite the top flasks. The shaft (140) is mounted with journals (141) in roller bearings (142) of the machine frame (1) and carries between the journals (141) and the multi-faceted drum (5) a cylindrical neck (144) whose outer diameter is larger than the diameter of the journals (141). At least one support (150, 151) is arranged under each neck (144), is in turn supported by the machine frame (1) and has a supporting surface (152) adapted to the curvature of the neck (144), so that the neck is supported over less than half its circumference and is arranged so near the supporting surface that when the monkey is lifted there is at most a narrow gap between the neck (144) and the supporting surface (152).
