[origin: EP0740909A1] The ski boot consists of a lower section (1) covering the foot and heel. An upper section (2) with a collar, is pivoted to the lower section and equipped with at least one buckle (6,7) to close it. The back of the boot has a locking mechanism to hold the upper section in an inclined position for the descent, and a system for releasing it. The locking mechanism has a catch (12) mounted on the lower section of the boot, and an arm which points more or less vertically upwards. A stop (8) on the inside of the boot's upper section engages with the catch in the locked position. The stop is released by a spring-loaded cable (11) connected to one of the upper section's buckles.
