[origin: EP0741031A2] A printed document is scanned with a camera that provides voltage signals indicative of the various colours. The values are used in a sensitivity matrix that is used to regulate the colour characteristics of different zones. The response of the system to a sudden change in operating condition (S) produces a measured signal that responds after a delay (T) with an exponential characteristics. The initial rate of change of the signal allows identification of the dynamic characteristic to be made.
