[origin: EP0742610A2] An electrical high-pressure gas discharge lighting tube (3) of a type used in overhead projectors has metallic connection elements at each end (4a,4b) with pins (7a,7b) that locate in apertures in contact elements fixed in the main housing of the lighting unit. The contact elements have elongated slots for ease of insertion and have a raised pad (15a,15b) on one side. The end of the tube connector has a mating flat section that fits against the pad to ensure correct alignment of the tube during installation.
