The backrest is joined to a first part (13) movably mounted on a second, fixed part (14) positioned on or in the backrest support or formed by the support. The first part is locked in its downward movement by at least one catch or clamp (15) in the form of rollers movable on a guide track or tracks (13,14) symmetrically positioned in relation to the central longitudinal axis of the backrest support. The track(s) is(are) formed between the two parts. The movement of the at least one catch or clamp is controlled by guide surfaces (21,18) between the two parts. The rollers run in recesses (18) in the guide tracks.
