Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0744245A1] The tool includes a support frame (12) with fitted movable blade holder support (22) which has several evenly spaced clamps (24) to hold a sharpened straight-edge cutting blade (26). The movable blade holder support is displaced cyclically by suitable mechanism from a starting position linearly along the longitudinal axis. Several interacting blade honing heads (30,32) engage sequentially into a cutting edge of the sharpened blade in a single longitudinally displaced cycle to provide progressive honing. A mechanism is provided for the cyclic return to move the movable holder support automatically back to the starting point at the end of the individual cycle. An end stop can be positioned at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the apparatus at the honing head station insert end
