[origin: EP0744546A1] The high pressure part incorporates a high pressure piston pump (2) and the pre-compressor part at least one pre-compressor piston pump (1). The two pumps are arranged in tandem and are synchronously operated. Each piston pump has a connecting rod (13,23), which at least in the area of the dividing wall (3) is completely separated from the other connecting rod. The drive of the piston connecting rods is electronically synchronised, or by mechanical devices (70,71). The connecting rods lie on a common axis. The mechanical devices incorporate at least one drive rod (70), which is displaced axially to the high pressure piston connecting rod and is connected with the high pressure and the pre-compressor piston connecting rods.
