The use of carbohydrate cpds. (I) as ancillaries for dyeing or printing fibrous materials with reactive dyes is claimed. (I) are of the formula Z-G-T-R<1>n; in which Z = the residue of a mono-, di- or oligosaccharide or a sugar alcohol with the free valency on a C atom; G = an -O-, -NR<5>-, -O-CO-, -NR<5>-CO- or -NR<5>-SO2- bridge; R<5> = H or 1-4 C alkyl, opt. mono- to tetra-substd. by OH, SO3H, OSO3H or COOH; T = 4-20 C aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or olefinic hydrocarbyl, 6-10 C aryl or 6-10 C aryl-(1-4 C)-alkylene; R<1> = OH, COOH, CN, 1-4 C alkyl, 1-4 C alkoxy, SO3H, 1-10 C alkylsulphonyl, aminosulphonyl, 1-10 C alkylcarbonylamino, 1-10 C alkoxycarbonyl or aminocarbonyl, in which the alkyl or aryl gps. may have OH, NH2, NO2, CN, OMe, SO3H and/or COOH substit(s).; n = 0-3. Verwendung von Kohlenhydratverbindungen der Formel (1) Z-G-T-R<1>n worin Z: für den Rest eines Kohlenhydrats aus der Reihe der Mono-, Di- oder Oligosaccharide oder eines Zuckeralkohols steht, wobei die freie Valenz sich an einem Kohlenstoffatom befindet; G: für ein Brückenglied aus der Reihe -O-, -NR<5>-, -O-CO-, -NR<5>-CO- und -NR<5>-SO2- steht, worin R<5> Wasserstoff oder C1-C4-Alkyl ist, das durch 1 bis 4 Reste aus der Reihe Hydroxy, Sulfo, Sulfato, Di(C1 -C4-alkyl)amino oder Carboxy substituiert sein kann; T: für einen C4-C30-aliphatischen, cycloaliphatischen oder olefinischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest, für C6-C10-Aryl oder für C6-C10-Aryl-C1-C4-alkylen steht; R<1>: für Hydroxy, Carboxy, Cyano, C1-C4-Alkyl, C1-C4-Alkoxy, Sulfo, C1-C10-Alkylsulfonyl, Aminosulfonyl, C1-C10-Alkylaminosulfonyl oder C6-C10-Arylaminosulfonyl, C1-C10-Alkylcarbonyl, Ureido, C1-C10-Alkylcarbonylamino, C1-C10-Alkoxycarbonyl oder Aminocarbonyl, wobei die Alkyl- oder Arylreste mit 1 oder mehreren der Reste OH, NH2, NO2, CN, OCH3, SO3H und COOH substituiert sein können; n: eine Zahl von 0 bis 3 ist, wobei für den Fall, daß n größer 1 ist, die Reste R<1> auch voneinander verschiedene Bedeutungen haben können, als Hilfsmittel zum Färben oder Bedrucken von Fasermaterialien mit faserreaktiven Farbstoffen.
