Abstract (en)
The appts. is intended to provide route planning information to a driver in a vehicle. This may be provided either via a written display panel (10) or by voice synthesis (20,4,5), giving either the proper names or the local names of area in question. The information is supplied initially in the form of digital data which can be interpreted in more than one language, so that the names can be given in the language of the user, or in the language of the country in which the place names are located. The appts. includes a microprocessor module (7) generating control and processing signals, with an address bus (15) and a data bus (21). A RAM memory (9) holds data which is valid at a particular instant, whilst a permanent memory (8) holds descriptive vocabulary recorded to TMC standards for operation in a particular language. The microprocessors is connected to a voice synthesiser (20) with amplifier and loudspeaker (4,5) and a display screen (10).

Un récepteur RDS/TMC ou un appareil de guidage routier est muni de moyens pour indiquer par écrit (10) ou par synthèse de parole (20, 4, 5) des noms propres ou des noms de localités, par exemple tour à tour dans la langue de l'usager puis dans la langue du pays que ce dernier traverse, tout en indiquant les autres mots d'un message dans la langue de l'usager seulement. Les traductions sont trouvées dans une mémoire (23). Applications : appareil de guidage et/ou d'information pour l'automobiliste. <IMAGE>
