[origin: EP0746059A1] The connector (10) has a housing (12) with its sidewalls (14) enclosing a space (16) for receiving at least one multi-pin contact housing (20) with adjacent contact chambers for respective contact elements. The contact housings have a modular configuration, with their contact chambers formed integral with one another and lying in series. The contact housings couple together to form a pre-assembled contact housing block, which is then inserted in the connector.
