[origin: WO9522632A1] Sulphited substances useful for stuffing leather are obtained by reacting monobasic or polybasic carboxylic acids (a) with 12 to 72 C atoms with a sulphiting reactive (b), then by neutralisation. As sulphiting reactive (b) a combination of at least one organic sulphonic acid (b1) and sulphuric acid (b2) is used, the proportion of sulphuric acid in relation to the sum of organic sulphonic acid and sulphuric acid amounting to 0.5 to 80 % by weight.
