Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0747148A2] The tool has two mobile heads, one for initially bending the edge (11') of the metal sheet. The other mobile head (3) is for folding it flat. Both heads are designed to operate in synchronised movements, acting in sequence. The second or locking head follows a curved trajectory with an instantaneous centre of rotation being close to the sheet metal fold zone. It also has a tangent at the end of its travel which is more or less orthogonal to the plane of the sheet metal. Its active face remains parallel to the sheet during operation. The first, or folding, head travels in an approximately straight line which is orthogonal to the plane of the metal sheet. Both heads are driven by a common rotary shaft, rotated in a single direction by a cam and lever mechanism and an electric motor.
