[origin: EP0747559A1] The winch consists of a housing containing a drum with a wound cable, fixed to a frame and operated by an endless screw coupled to a second screw attached to a tilting stirrup actuated by a lever engaging with the endless screw wheel and disengaged by a lever and spring mechanism. The disengagement mechanism comprises a two-arm lever (19) with manual and pneumatic operation, and with its axis of rotation (18) located in the space between two parallel planes lying perpendicular to the winch locking plane. One plane passes through the axis of rotation of the endless screw wheel, and the other through the tilting axis of the stirrup. The lever's axis is preferably identical with the stirrup's tilting axis and, in a variant, the disengagement mechanism can comprise a one-arm lever which is operated electromagnetically.
