[origin: DE19521273C1] The equipment determines the amount of evaporation of a processing liquid from a tank into which photographic materials are immersed, by using a reference container which is filled with water. The container is arranged so that the water is exposed to roughly the same evaporation conditions as the processing liquid. The container may be fixed inside the processing device, and may also be fixed inside the tank or the liquid. A floating switch may be used to monitor the water level inside the container, from which the evaporation rate of the water, and hence the liquid, may be determined.
