[origin: WO9529338A1] A valve for reciprocating piston compressors designed without a stop for the valve reed (1) has a component (4) with several channels (10) arranged at the side of the valve seat plate (2) opposite to the valve reed (1). Each channel (10) of the component (4) is aligned with a throughflow opening (9) in the valve seat plate (2). The high speed level in the relatively narrow channels (10) of the component reduces the fluttering movements of the valve reed (1) and the speed at which the valve reed (1) hits the valve seat plate (2). The stroke of the valve reed (1) is exclusively limited by its suspension springs.
