[origin: EP0749836A1] The ink jet printer has a print head (2) that has an array of nozzles (27) coupled to chambers (24) that have electrical actuators to generate pulse of ink. The chambers are coupled to a main supply (3). The front of the housing has a cover (11) with a slot in line with the nozzles. In the lower half of the head is a chamber (4) and nozzle (27,28) that is actuated in the pause between printing to create a vaporised micro climate (121) around the print nozzles to prevent the ink drying out
