[origin: EP0750286A2] An alarm system is used to monitor a defined area, and responds to any intruder. The system has a number of modules (6, 7, 8, 9) with housings (2, 3, 4, 5) that are located at strategic positions throughout the room or space. Each module has a submodule (A) that has a detector and a transmitter. Coupled to this is a second sub module (B) having a receiver and a display. Ultra sonic or infra red signals are directed around the room. If a detector responds, an alarm signal is transmitted via an antenna to a central module that identifies the location and activates the warning signal generators.
