[origin: GB2287457A] A printer, e.g. for banking passbooks, has mechanism for de-skewing inserted documents comprising detectors to determine the skew of the document, and a control system for controlling document positioning means in response to signals from the detectors, the positioning means rotating an inserted document substantially about a stationary point to correct the skew. A skewed document trips left and right detectors 610, 620 at different times corresponding to a particular number of steps of document feed. Half these steps are imparted to the left part of the document by motor 140 and roller 370, half being applied in the opposite feed sense to the right part by motor/roller 150/360. <IMAGE>
