[origin: EP0751259A1] When an asphalt layer is laid or shortly after it has been laid, a frame (1) is worked into the location of an intended recess (2) in the asphalt layer (3). The frame has the shape of the intended recess. The still warm asphalt located inside the frame is sucked away by a suction device. The recesses in the upper asphalt layer are produced in a grid formation, which corresponds to the distance between rail sleepers to be fixed on the asphalt layer or to a whole number multiple of such distance. The recesses are produced in the centre between the intended run of the two rails of the track and are provided for the accommodation of an anchoring projection extending downwards from the sleepers.
