[origin: WO9525887A1] Simple requirement-dependent control of the flow of the fuel and hence the pressure in the high-pressure section are to be obtained in the high-pressure section of a (common rail) injection system, using a non-controllable high-pressure pump with check valves on the suction and delivery sides. To this end, the fuel flow is set on the low-pressure side by a controllable low-pressure pump or a downstream control valve. If the set fuel flow is lower than the maximum determined by the suction volume of the high-pressure pump, incorrect metering is prevented either by the floating piston together with a conventional check valve (17, 18) on the suction side or by a spring-loaded piston and a check valve in the form of a differential pressure valve (7, 8).
