Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19502176A1] Disclosed is a chip-card reader with an insertion slot (1) for the package (3) having the chip card (2), with a number of contact pairs (6, 7) corresponding to the number of read tracks and with a contact carrier frame (5) connected to the contact leads (4), wherein the contact leads (4) held in the package (3) are introduced in parallel from one side into the contact carrier frame (5), which is held free-sprung by the contact leads, and on the side of the contact carrier frame (5) opposite the contact leads (4) there is an actuating element in the form of a double-armed lever (9, 10) which is held in the package by means of torsion spring arms (8) and whose power arm (9) lies in the insertion path of the chip card (2), so that upon insertion of the chip card (2) the work arm (10) of the actuating lever is twisted with the tension of the torsion spring arms (8) and presses the contact carrier frame (5), and thus the contacts (6, 7) bearing it, onto the chip card (2). The contact carrier frame (5) is provided with lateral pins (14) and the work arm (10) of the actuating element (8, 9, 10) is designed as a fork whose arms in the disengaged position rest loosely on the pins (14).
