[origin: EP0752491A2] A singeing appts. (V) for flame treating, esp. textile knitted, tubular fabric (1) has burner (3) and fabric guide (W) shaped so that it presents to the fabric flat sides (a) running parallel to each other and rounded transition sides (b). The burner applies flame onto both flat (a) and transition sides (b). Pref. the burner is formed in parts, i.e. long straight elements (I) for the flat sides and rounded elements (II) formed as circular arcs facing the transition sides, types I being arranged to overlap types II viewed along fabric run (x). The singeing appts. breadth on the flat side adjusts to suit different tubular fabric sizes, i.e. it is telescopic and, in its direction of greatest possible adjustment, applied with spring-tension taken up by transport rollers (10) and adjusted by screw drive. The rounded elements can be swung from the singeing position, one or both travelling on a slide (18) parallel to a screw (17) for adjusted withdrawal along the screw drive. Lengths of the long elements are suited to the max. singeing appts. width and its breadth enlargement part elongates to move a burner slot pusher.
