A shoe press (10) for processing (e.g. dewatering) a moving web of e.g. paper or board extends across the entire width (B) of the web and has a revolving flexible press jacket (11) which can be pressed against an opposing element (20) (e.g. a roll) by means of a press shoe (12) supported on a fixed carrier (15). Thrust elements (13,14) which press the shoe against the roll are located along the length of the support and carry the shoe. The thrust elements can be fed individually or in groups with a pressurising medium. The thrust elements are of two different sizes, those in the central region of the assembly being several in number, arranged in a single row, and comparatively large. At least one end of the roll is supported by two smaller thrust elements which are placed one behind the other w.r.t. the direction of web travel.

Eine Schuh-Preßeinrichtung zum Entwässern einer Papierbahn hat einen flexiblen umlaufenden Preßmantel 11, der mittels eines Preßschuhes 12 an eine Gegenwalze 20 andrückbar ist. Zwischen dem Preßschuh 12 und einem Tragkörper 15 befindet sich eine Reihe von Haupt-Stützelementen 13 sowie an jedem Walzenende zwei in Bahnlaufrichtung hintereinander angeordnete und relativ kleine Rand-Stützelemente 14. Wenn die Gegenwalze 20 als Durchbiegungseinstellwalze ausgebildet ist, dann wird deren Walzenmantel 21 ebenfalls mit Hilfe einer Reihe von Stützelementen 23 an einem stationären Tragkörper 25 abgestützt. Die Anzahl der in einer Reihe liegenden Stützelemente ist bei der Durchbiegungseinstellwalze 20 um eins größer als bei der Schuh-Preßeinheit 10. <IMAGE>
