Photographic direct positive material comprising a support and as hydrophilic layers one or more radiation sensitive emulsion layers containing internal latent image-forming silver halide grains and one or more protective antistress layers characterized in that at least one of the hydrophilic layers further contains at least one compound corresponding to one of the general formulae (I) to (III) R<1>-X-Ä(LINK1-Y)n-LINK2-ZÜp-LINK3-X-R<1> ÄR<1>-X-(LINK1-Y)n-LINK2-ZÜ2-LINK3 ÄR<1>-X-(LINK1-Y)n-LINK2Ü2-Z wherein X, Y and Z each independently represents S, O or NR<2>; R<1> and R<2> each independently represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl or substituted alkyl, or the necessary atoms to form a ring together with the N-atom to which they are attached if X represents NR<2>; LINK1, LINK2 and LINK3 each independently represent a divalent linking group; n is an integer having a value of 0 or 1 and p is an integer having a value from 1 to 10.
