[origin: DE4412596A1] The invention pertains to a process and a plant for decontamination treatment of substances, for example soil. The plant includes at least one container (1) to hold the substances (2) to be treated and equipment to supply (3) water, to add (5) reagents promoting the breakdown of the contaminants and to collect and filter or purify outgoing air and process water. The purified process water can be recycled. The container is watertight but can be closed in a way that allows air and water vapor to pass through. An irrigation device (4) can be mounted in the upper region of the container. The device (6) used to collect outgoing air and process water is situated in the lower region of the container, for example at its base, and can be operated with negative pressure. Thus, the air is sucked downward from top to bottom and the excess process water dripping through the substances being treated is collected along with it.
