Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9527625A2] A device enabling a book, catalogue, guidebook and the like to be taken apart or put back together to form a filing system for bound or unbound documents and reduce the weight of the documents being transported. The documents are separated into a number of easily removable detachable portions (1) bound together by a special cover (Fig. 1) and provided with staples (2) or rods (3) that can be inserted into resilient retaining members (4) secured to the cover. The back of the cover can be made flexible or stiff as required, in particular by means of a device (10, 11), to enhance the insertion and binding of the detachable portions. Assigning a particular position to the detachable portions may be enhanced by staggering the fastening elements and providing visual and/or tactile indexing means. The device is suitable for all heavy documents to be transported (school books, catalogues, etc.) and/or filed.
