Abstract (en)
The safety device uses a sensor (10,11) incorporated in the seat backrest, providing a warning signal when the backrest reaches an obstacle during its movement between the upright and reclined positions, for automatic reversal of the electric operating drive. Pref. the sensor uses a sensor mat applied to the outer surface of the backrest, using a number of pressure sensitive electrical resistances exhibiting a resistance variation upon contact with an obstacle.
