[origin: WO9527786A1] The present invention provides novel peptides of Cry j I which have been modified as a part of a preformulation scheme to develop an optimized drug product for therapeutic treatment of humans suffering from allergy to Japanese cedar pollen allergen or a pollen allergen which is immunologically cross reactive Japanese cedar pollen allergen. Such modified peptides possess certain unique characteristics which render them particularly suitable for drug product formulation. The present invention further provides therapeutic compositions and multipeptide formulations which have been optimized to accommodate and maintain the unique characteristics of the modified Cry j I peptides and at the same time provide maximum therapeutic effect when used in therapeutic regimens for the treatment of Japanese cedar pollen allergy in humans.
