Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19506788A1] The invention concerns a vehicle for use in repairing damaged road surfaces by levelling with a filler material. The vehicle in question is provided in the known way with a heating and scarifying unit (3, 4, 5), a dispensing device (6) for the filler material, a dynamically operating compaction tool (7) used for compacting the scarified road material and added filler and situated behind the dispensing device at a level above that of the undamaged part of the road surface, and a smoothing tool behind the compaction tool (7) which during operation moves to and fro horizontally at right angles to the vehicle's direction of travel and is used for removing the excess filler material behind the compaction tool. According to the invention, the smoothing tool (8) can be controllably raised or lowered independently of the dispensing device (6) and of the compaction tool (7) and is mounted on the dispensing device (6); the vehicle is also provided with another dynamically operating compaction tool (22) behind the smoothing tool (8) and in the vicinity thereof. With the proposed vehicle, it is possible to ensure that a small excess-material layer still remains behind the smoothing tool (8) above the level of the undamaged part of the surface or desired level of the new surfacing; the excess can be set large enough to close up remaining air voids behind the smoothing tool during subsequent additional compaction with the additional compaction tool.
