Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0758621A2] The two label tapes are spliced together using a laminated adhesive tape. A new label tape (7) is moved with its front end into a stationary waiting position, until at least one label has been removed at its front. The old label tape (4), which is almost used-up, is loosened off the winding core, is fixed to the adhesive layer of the adhesive tape in a rated breaking point, and is moved past the front end of the new tape, so that an adhesive overlapping connection is formed. The adhesive connection is originated by using a component having a relay effect, which has a signal receiver. This reacts to a variation in or more of the characteristics of the label tape passing through it.
