[origin: DE4416273A1] The invention concerns a water- and/or dust-proof rocker switch unit with a built-in light. In known switches of this type, a special chamber is provided inside the housing to accommodate the lighting unit, the chamber being accessible from the outside. Such an arrangement necessitates a complex casting mould and in addition does not completely seal the lighting unit off from the surroundings. The problem addressed by the invention was to create a sealed rocker switch with lighting unit in which the lighting unit would also be completely sealed off from the surroundings, while allowing the housing to be relatively simple in design. This is achieved in principle by the provision of integral lighting windows which allow the emission of light from the lighting units fitted in the inner chamber of the housing. Advantageous developments concern the arrangement of a light guide on the actuating cap and protection of the plug by downward extension of the housing walls.
