[origin: EP0759496A1] The window operating mechanism has an electric operating motor (54) coupled to the vehicle battery (58), with its drive shaft (52) coupled to a guide (4, 5, 16, 17) supporting the window glass (2). An automatically or manually-releasable coupling (44) is provided between the motor drive shaft and the guide, e.g. between the motor drive shaft and a cable drum (40) wound with a tension cable (30) passed around the guide.
