[origin: WO9531618A1] A variable-volume container (1) is disclosed, with at least one drawer-type extension (3) which can slide out to increase the container volume. At least one external surface of the extension (3) when in its drawn-in position forms an outer face of the container (1). In order to lower a floor (31) of the extension (3) down to the level of the inner floor (11) of the container (1), at least one lifting rail (5) parallel to the extension is provided and can slide out of the container (1). With this lifting rail, the extension (3) can be lowered from its slide-in level down to an inner floor (11) of the container (1).
