[origin: EP0760348A2] The device has an initial withdrawal device (3) that can move against the material (2) and builds loops from it. It take the material from a storage roller (4). Connected to it, along the transport direction, is a brake unit (6) and then a blade wheel (9). The brake unit contains a brake block (18) with a brake lining (17), which acts against the material and against a brake resistance (16). The brake block or the brake resistance is movable against the material by means of a brake eccentric. The brake resistance is a brake roller (15) and the brake lining is arched.
